2 Minute Mug Cake!

Wednesday, 16 March 2016

I absolutely LOVE anything chocolate-cake-like for dessert, so when I found a recipe for a CHOCOLATE CAKE IN A MUG, I knew I just had to try it! I have sen a few people make some before, and I think it's a great way if you don't want to buy a whole chocolate cake or if you don't want to make a huge chocolate cake. It's the perfect size for one, or maybe two, I was quite full after mine! SO here is what we'll be making!

Mmmmmm... looks so scrummy! So, here is the recipe I used:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 Tablespoons of plain flour
  • 3 Tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons of Cocoa powder
  • 1/8 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Baking Powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tablespoon of Oil (I used Sunflower Oil)
  • 3 Tablespoons of Milk
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Tablespoons of Chocolate Chips (Optional)

METHOD:

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE TWO MUG CAKES FOR THIS THEN SEPARATE YOUR MIXTURE INTO TWO DIFFERENT CUPS/MUGS.

Because I was only making ONE mug cake, I literally just threw everything into my cup and mixed it together with a fork, but for you less-greedy fellows out there who want to make TWO mug cakes, here is the method!

  1. Mix together all of the dry ingredients into a small mixing bowl.
  2. Add all of the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl.
  3. If you're feeling extra faboosh, now's a great time to add in those chocolate chips that you keep eating from the packet ;) Fold them into the batter.
  4. Pour the mixture into two medium sized mugs (or one huge mug). The batter should reach up to halfway-ish.
  5. Microwave for 2 minutes and tuck into those leftover chocolate chips (or you could save some for decorating the top of your mug cake!). The center of the cake should still look a bit wet, otherwise you cake will overcook and it will be a bit rubbery!

Here is the finished product! You can add any assortment of lovely-ness to the tops of your cakes, whether it be berries, nuts, NUTELLA, whipped cream, marshmallows or double cream! I added some cream to the top on mine and it was DELICIOUS!

I love this recipe as it's so quick and easy to follow, and the cake tastes GREAT! I have tried a few other recipes before and some of them weren't really 'cake-like' and were a bit stodgy in the middle and didn't taste of much... but I'm so glad I found this recipe! I hope you all like it! Let me know if any of you have made a mug-cake and leave a comment in the box below!

I'm off to demolish my cake now...

Love, K :)

    1. IT'S SO NICE! But I really do recommend splitting the recipe into two mugs/cups because I think if you do it as one mug-cake ITS FAR TOO FILLING! I felt like I was going to explode! Haha! And thank-you for the lovely comment! :) x
